For a stairlift project in Ticino, the drive unit of a platform lift had to be repositioned due to space constraints, as it would have otherwise obstructed wheelchair access to the platform.

Normally, the drive unit with the motor is positioned at the end of the rails near the upper landing. However, in this case, the rails were extended, and the drive was installed beneath the platform. This is not an uncommon solution for Rigert. Additionally, it is useful to know that drive units can also be mounted above the upper landing, even at a 90° angle through a wall into another room or several meters away from the landing.
